Is this type of idea of creation sustainable, or practical in the business sense D2R Items? Something like Diablo is now available due to the lengthy period of having Titan being reworked, with the ups as well as downs of development. The final product is, many years later, is a game that has an impressive and broad presence. Can you afford to run the same cycle for every project?

I'm not sure that I am aware that we here at Blizzard have any choice but to take this route. I don't know that there's another option for Blizzard. We truly believe that team leaders need to be convinced and have an idea for an idea that they think will be successful. It's a very bottom up method of working.

Blizzard has no history of having Mike Morhaime, or me or another at the top saying, "Hey, Blizzard should go make, insert kind of game." This is not how Blizzard operates. It's a group of developers that are extremely passionate about the idea of a specific genre are given the space to think about and create and deliver something that we think can be excellent. That's really how it's always beenand is still the way it's currently.

I'm trying to find how to ask this without blaming Activision. I guess my question is what are the current business realities of the moment that your relationship and your parent business d2r items buy, Activision, such that you are able to continue operating in the same way? Are you able to say that Blizzard sufficiently independent to say, 'We don't think this is the best idea, therefore we're going out of our way to stop the game, and we're going to return for a fresh start ... You might not see another game from us in five, ten years or whatever the case may be?' If so, are you currently in a position where you could do that?
