Los 40 Principales is part of the Cadena SER network, which is in turn a part of PRISA Group. This group owns several LOS 40 Principales stations, which are operated by local broadcasting companies. They provide a variety of music, from pop to reggaeton, from electronic to bachata.

Currently, the station is available on its website and via its application. Fans can interact with the station and its staff through Twitter and Facebook. LOS40 also offers a calendar of events. For instance, it features a benefit concert in Tenerife.

In addition to the radio station, the network consists of a few satellites. Each LOS40 network broadcasts a national feed from its respective country. Some of these stations are owned by the PRISA Group, while others are independent. All of these stations play various types of music, including reggaeton, pop, rock, and even House.

Although Los 40 has a long history, it recently underwent a massive rebranding. It changed its logo and began to use the phrase "Music Inspires Life" instead of the older "Todos los Exitos".

Los 40 Principales was founded in 1966. Initially, it was a part of Radio Madrid. In 1979, it launched its first exclusive emisory.
